The Olivet Nazarene University Football Team lends a helping hand

The Olivet Nazarene University Football Team reached out to the local community this past weekend to lend a helping hand. The football team has partnered with the outreach program Garden of Prayer located in Kankakee, IL. The players and coaches spent the weekend landscaping, painting, and cleanning the camp grounds around the youth centers. These services will prepare the Garden of Prayer for their annual summer camps. "The partnership is the first step in the right direction for teaching our young student atheletes to give back to the community. Our student atheletes need to know that there is something bigger than themselves and football. We are trying to help them understand that serving others and giving back is important," says Head Football Coach Don Lee. The football team will continue to help out with the Garden of Prayer throughout the summer. Summer camps, field trips, and after school programs have been planned to help serve the inner city youth and community.

You are invited back to Olivet!! Please take the time to come back and visit the football program this spring. On Friday April 30th, Olivet Nazarene University will be hosting their annual golfing tournament. On Saturday May 1st, the coaches and players will be hosting a football alumni cookout. The cookout will start at 2:30pm in the stadium parking lot. Please bring your family and join us for great food and good times. At 6:30 pm, your Tigers will take the field in our annual Purple and Gold game. It would mean a lot to the players to see the alumni base that continually follows and supports them on and off the field. If you would like to reserve a spot, just drop us a line in the football office so that we might get a better head count. This will offer you a glimpse of good things to happen in 2010!! We hope to see you there!!
